New Orleans WeddingsI know that people who live here, get married here, and listing wedding and bridal sites is just another service that I thought would help local couples to plan their wedding. You might looking for a place to buy wedding gowns, such as the House of Broel, or for a location to have an elegant French Quarter Courtyard Wedding. ![]() Sometimes, however, I tend to forget that New Orleans is not just another city. I learned recently, that many couples like to come to New Orleans to get married. Perhaps it is to have a jump start on their New Orleans honeymoon, or maybe because their honeymoon may include a cruise from New Orleans. At any rate, I came to realize that planning an out of town wedding is not easy, and if I can help to make it a little easier, than so much the better. There are a lot of things that need to be done in a timely fashion, if the wedding is to go smoothly. I know of an occasion, the day before the wedding, when the groom was asked by his mother, "You did get the marriage license, didn't you?" "Get the Marriage license?!?" asked the groom. Fortunately, some personal connections helped to cut through some red tape, and long lines. Bob Walker's New Orleans Area Wedding Guide has information about marriage licenses, marriage license bureaus, and Louisianan marriage laws, and other resources to help things go smoothly. There is more, including a nice web site, New Orleans Wedding Links, that was built by a couple who did come to New Orleans to be married. They have the experience, and are willing to share the experience, and offer many tips and suggestions. Some additional resources to see are: Leah's PralinesPralines, chocolates, Creole sauces, personalized wedding favors and party trays. Weddings on the River The 1,000 passenger Paddlewheeler Creole Queen and the 600 passenger Riverboat Cajun Queen are a favorite for wedding receptions.
